Hello

My name is Deborah Galloway

Types of Ceremonies

Naming Ceremonies

A Humanist Naming Ceremony, also known as a welcoming ceremony, is a way of celebrating and welcoming a new member of the family. These ceremonies are typically held for new-borns, one-year-olds, or toddlers, but they can also be held for older children as a rite of passage and day of celebration. Naming Ceremonies can be used to welcome not only biological children, but also adopted children or step-children.

People often choose to have naming ceremonies to bring family and friends together to honour someone important in their life and to reflect on the role that key people will play in the child's life. It is a meaningful way to celebrate the arrival of a new family member.

Commitment Ceremonies

A  Commitment Ceremony is a non-legal service that allows a couple to publicly declare their commitment to each other. While the ceremony is similar to a wedding in many ways, including the exchange of vows, readings, music, and rings, it is not legally binding and does not change the couple's marital status. Couples may choose to have a Commitment Ceremony for a variety of reasons, including the desire to celebrate their love with family and friends without the legal implications of marriage.

Engaged Couple

Wedding Ceremonies

A Humanist Wedding is a non-religious ceremony that is personalised, inclusive, and welcoming. As a trained celebrant I get to know the couple and focus on their love story and what is important to them. This creates a unique ceremony that can be as traditional or non-traditional, formal or informal as desired. The ceremony may include ritual moments, singing, pets, or any other elements that make it feel perfectly suited to you.

Renewal of Vows

A Vow Renewal Ceremony is a special way for a married couple to reaffirm their love and commitment to each other in front of their loved ones. By renewing their wedding vows, the couple gets to say "I do" all over again and celebrate their relationship. Each ceremony is unique and reflects the couple's experiences and achievements together over the years. Vow renewal ceremonies can be held to mark significant milestones in the relationship, such as overcoming a challenging time or reaching an important anniversary.
